Multi-language wedding invitations — what actually works

March 20, 2026·5 min read

If your wedding has Persian grandparents and American friends, your invitation needs to do two things at once. Here's how to do it without the design collapsing.

Pick your dominant language

The invitation has a primary language — the one your closest family speaks. Set everything else as secondary. Don't try to make them equal; the design always loses.

In our themes, primary language is the larger, top-of-block text. Secondary language is the smaller, beneath-it text.

Right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian)

A pure RTL layout reads naturally to those guests but feels backwards to LTR guests. The right move: a public invitation page that detects the script and renders RTL only when the dominant text is RTL.

In Vowly, this is automatic. Write your invitation in Arabic and your public page renders RTL. Mix LTR (English travel info) in the same page and Vowly handles the direction switching block-by-block.

Font pairing across scripts

Latin serifs (Playfair, Cormorant) don't have proper Arabic or Devanagari companions. Pick a system font fallback for the secondary script — your visitors' browsers will render it natively, and the contrast will look intentional, not broken.

RSVP form in multiple languages

Most platforms force a single language for the RSVP form. Vowly lets you write each field's label in the language you want. So if your grandparents speak Farsi, the question "Will you attend?" can render as "آیا تشریف می‌آورید؟" — and the answer comes through as plain text in your dashboard.

Email confirmations

When a guest RSVPs, Vowly sends a confirmation email in the language of the invitation (or the language detected from the guest's name / phone). Your Persian aunt gets the email in Farsi. Your US college roommate gets it in English. No setup required.

How Vowly handles this

Vowly ships with 12 UI locales (en, tr, es, fr, de, it, pt, ru, ar, fa, hi) and full RTL on the public invitation page. Your content stays in the language you write it; the platform does the script detection and layout work.
